Genie slide Number 12

Along with the lantern slides we found a smaller box of older slides.  These are hand painted and are made up of images from around the world.  We expect that these were used in church services to illustrate the work of missionaries.  Most of the congregation would never have seen these places for themselves and I imagine that they would have been amazed at the images.  There are also slides of the words of hymns, probably used to lead singing in services.

    Hi There,
These are United Kingdon Band of Hope Union slides. You may find details on the sets themselves (and possibly the original readings) at the Lucerna Project site http://www.slides.uni-trier.de
You may also want to join the Magic Lantern Society http://www.magiclantern.org.uk/. Our members have wide experience and expertise in the area and we may have members local to you. we certainly have one or two who have a good grounding in UKBHU and other temperance slide manufacturers and who may be able to provide further infomation.
I use one of their slide sets in my show – though I confess the reading is not what the Union should have intended!

Thank you very much for contacting us with information on the UKBHU slides. The scenes on these slides are really beautiful and I will definitely check out these websites.

Any thoughts?
