William John Brolly, Corporal, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, Killed in Action

William John Brolly was born around 1886 and lived in Office Street, Whitehouse at the time of the 1901 census. His father was Robert George Brolly, a master tailor and his mother was Ellen Sophia.  He had at least 5 siblings called Cassie McKee, James Howard, Samuel Hugh, Clarke and Thomas.  In 1906 he married Mary and they had a son, William in 1907.

William John enlisted with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers serving with the second Battalion as Corporal.  He died on the 16 May 1915 and is remembered at Le Touret Memorial in France.  He played for Distillery football club and they have recently erected a memorial to remember him. 

His photo appeared in the Belfast Telegraph announcing his death.  As yet I have not matched him to our lantern slides.  If you think you can match him to one of the slides please get in touch below!

  2. I am Clark Heathcliff Brolly, Williams great great grandson. Just found this today as I for some reason decided to look up William on the internet after talking with my dad Clark Brolly. Just want to say thanks for remembering William. God bless.
